I have been wanting to design and make my own bed for a very long time. When I had the chance to make I what I wanted to in Year 12 Woodwork, I chose to make a bed. The bed I made was a queen size and was made from river redgum, jarrah and pine. My father and I have a mobile sawmilling business so I thought it would be a great idea to find and cut the timber myself. The machine I used to cut the timber was an eight inch Lucas Mill designed in Australia.

The timber I am using in my major project is from a property located in Eden Valley and the timber is from a tree that died in 1879 and fell down in 1932, we slabbed the tree in 2013 which makes the timber very seasoned and dry as a chip. I am very happy with the end result and would love to make another one.
