Dressing Bench With Storage 1 of 5

The intention of my project was to design and construct a dressing bench to suit the existing décor of my parent’s bedroom. The size and shape of the bench needed to fit neatly at the base of their bed and the purpose of the dressing bench was to be both a place to sit and get dressed and also have the added function of a concealed storage area. Mortise and tenon joints were common throughout the construction of my project and they provided a challenge to make them flush with sufficient strength each time. A paramount technique that I also learnt during this process, was that of creating jigs and devices to uniquely construct components, which would usually be quite difficult and take many tedious processes.
