VIDEO: hand making Auriou rasps

French made Auriou rasps preserve a four-generation long tradition of hand making their rasps and rifflers at every step of the way. The work is repetitive and exacting, and requires skill and dedication.

After forging and shaping each billet, each tool is painstakingly hand ‘stitched’ with abrasive ‘teeth’ that are tapped, one by one, onto edges and surfaces.

The video below reveals the process that has taken place at Forge de Saint-Juéry, France in a company tradition that goes back to 1856.
