Jarrah Rolltop Desk 1 of 4

Jarrah, Tas oak, green leather

I have successfully designed and created a roll top desk and I am very eager to start using my new roll top desk in my future academic studies. The choice of jarrah has been frustrating to work with as splinters occurred constantly throughout the completion of my project. Despite this, I believe the light and dark red colour provides a vibrant and warm feel as intended and contrasts nicely with my Tas oak drawers. I have used a number of joints in order to complete this project including: stopped housings, dowels, mitres, biscuit, tongue and groove and dovetail joints for my drawers being a very attractive feature that adds to the aesthetics of the desk. However, my favorite feature of the desk is my olive green leather inlay, a decision that contrasts nicely and also provides a traditional look. I truly believe that my project displays the natural beauty of the timbers I have selected.
