This piece was inspired by the designs of Neil Scobie and I worked closely with him in making it. The concept and purpose of this project was to incorporate a natural and organic design into a display cabinet which could be a unique, modern and decorative piece. I combined the beautifully contrasting timbers of jarrah and silky oak and included a piece of naturally textured slumped glass on the top of the cabinet to add to its individuality. I used a variety of machines, tools and equipment to construct and produce a functional piece which can be kept forever. To finish the project, I used Kunos natural oil to enhance the timbers natural characteristics of grain and medullary rays and to give it a lustrous finish.
