I completed making a coat stand for my Year 11 Major Work. I decided to call it Hang on A Sphere and was inspired by the Herman Miller’s rack as the spheres were unique. Making the sphere was tricky as it took great accuracy and skill. I turned them on the lathe making sure that they were spherical using a spindle gouge. The various construction methods used were dowel, cross-halving and cross housing joint, thickness and lathe turning. I drilled the top dowels using a drill press at different angles which allowed the spheres to protrude at different angles.
