Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata), steel rods and steel railings, screws, matte coating

The concept of my wine rack was influenced by a West Australian furniture maker Gary Bennett of Jahroc. After creating a a full size template, I cut the lengths of jarrah into the three main components and cramped each piece together using the Festool Domino cutter. I then had to thickness the timber and finally bevel the ends to make it stand at 22.5 degrees. To make the racks I had to bend multiple pieces of 10mm steel round bar into shape and then cut them to length. I brazed and MIG welded the steel rod and railing together to the uprights which was made from 25mm flat bar. Then assembled the piece together. Finally, by using a 4” grinder with a flapper disk, I created a natural edge on the top, sanded through the grits to 400 and then finished with a 2 pack low toxicity, 30% matt coating from Becker Acroma to give it a natural look and feel.
