The timber games table was based upon David Roentgen's '18th Century Games Table'. It is designed to maximise utility with many large playing surfaces including chess, backgammon, dining/card table and sidetable. Yet at the same time little space is required by the piece as it can be folded up into a small footprint. A number of methods were used, including hand cut stringing inlay, hand cut half blind dovetails, hand cut double half blind stepped dovetail, hand cut knuckle joint hinge, shopmade veneer clamping press to veneer the table sawn/thicknessered veneers, double bevel marquetry and French polishing.
