Decorating Elf Kit

Looking for an easy way to apply texture to your turnings? Here's an interesting and affordable tooling system that offers some creative possibilities.

Made in Sheffield, UK by Henry Taylor, the Decorating Elf is supplied as a kit for texturing and burnishing wood surfaces while they are still on the lathe. The tools work on flat, concave and convex surfaces and may also be used for decorating other materials such as bone and acrylic.

The kit has a surface preparation tool, HSS ball spiral cutter and point cutting tool and allows you to add feathered, cross-hatched and banded patterns. A stiff brush is used to burnish patterns while retaining crisp textures. The kit comes with an instructional DVD and is available from Beyond Tools for around $89.
