Travis Daniels, Wooden Fat Bike (Student Awards 2019)
This is my year 12 woodwork project. My problem is that there are thousands of bikes thrown away each year from problems like broken frames and frames that are too small. The main problem with this is that the bike components on these bikes are normally in great working order. I have had this problem myself especially in my teenage growing years when bikes simply get too small for me to ride. Some people go out and purchase new very pricey frames and transfer the parts across but for most people, we can’t simply afford to do that, so I have worked out a way to incorporate the state board technique of bending plywood to make a strong frame, that is bigger and in the most affordable way possible. This has been a huge success the frame flows well and looks great at the same time as being a fully functional bike with a strong frame. Year 12, Dale Christian School, WA. Teacher: Allan Munsami
