The Winged Lounge Chair is designed to evoke the feeling of an embrace. It is inspired by the image of a bird's wings wrapped around a nest and with its young. The chair features a solid Ash frame and bent-laminated backrest slats with Ash veneer. The white and grey-purple grain was selected to emphasize the backrest’s wingspan; and the swirling patterns echoing its curves. Each frame component is rounded along its length and curved at the feet, suggesting a sense of perching and the potential for lift-off. Loose tenons join the frame, while Parnham joints connect the slats to the frame. The seat is topped with a thin, firm foam to maintain its slim profile, creating an airy lightness. Upholstered in midnight blue velvet, the seat completes the chair’s ethereal design.
