Olivia O'Connor, Walnut Hands (Art & Accessories)

A pair of hands carved by my two hands. Modelled from mine and my father's hands and handcarved in American walnut. This work symbolises an older generation sharing knowledge and skills with a younger generation – all by lending an helping hand. I have included progress pictures as well as those of the final carving to demonstrate some of the process involved; firstly the outline shape was cut out on a bandsaw and from there on only carving gouges were used. American walnut, 350mm wide.
