This simple wall cabinet is intended to be a paired back, James Krenov inspired design. As such it incorporates dowel joinery across all of the panel work. The door is a mortise and tenon frame and panel construction and the draw dovetailed. The cabinet is made from salvaged Elm and the draw material is Hydrowood Celery Top Pine and Huon Pine. The cabinet incorporates experimentations with visible repair throughout the piece allowing for the use of timber sections that might otherwise need to be excluded from use. These consist of various inlays of timber created from the smaller offcuts generated throughout the production of the piece. Smaller defects have also been rectified using shellac filler sticks. The sustainable sourcing of timber along with these filling techniques help to progress the work toward the more environmentally friendly production of objects.
