I designed this wall unit for a friend who was looking for a way to consolidate LP storage, display art, and store hi fi equipment and a monitor. We took into consideration the natural light coming from a window on the left of the unit and the ideal position for speakers and access to the record player. I have always admired the work of Wharton Esherick and so I incoporated paneling along the back wall of the piece with an irregular pattern inspired by the floorboards in his studio. To counter the density and weight of this much timber, I opened the vertical shelf dividers into open frames to let light pass through.
