The Tourve Record Cabinet is the culmination of over a year of planning, prototyping and building. The unit itself has a sizable footprint of 1700mm x 500mm and stands 1100mm tall and contains features that will aid any avid record collector. 6 large shelves provide ample space for records and other memorabilia that a collector may acquire. The shelves are also accompanied by an accessory tray that is neatly tucked under the isolation plate and provides storage for remotes, brushes and other required tools. Finally, possibly the most important feature is the Isolation Plate that is built into the top of the unit which reduces the vibrations from the speakers which may affect the playback through the tonearm. The construction of the unit itself also features some challenging joinery. The most critical joinery featured is the Kerfed Mitres that wrap the entire way around the construction and provide the basis for which the track is constructed. Further, there are wedged through tennons, which attach the top to the internal structure of the piece. These Elements, togeather with the tambour strips that wrap around the entire cabinet, create a striking piece that can sit proudly in any room.
