This tool chest has been constructed over the last year for my final HSC timber project. This tool chest is made with New Guinea Rosewood, featuring three Victorian Ash drawers with Rosewood false fronts and a top compartment. These drawers hold 3 turned lathe tools and allow for extra storage. The top compartment is fitted with a piano hinge and includes two sliding trays within. There are numerous fine details I included to increase the aesthetic appeal. The chest has dovetail drawer fronts with mitred false fronts. The main shelf includes through mortise and tenons, with the tenons able to be viewed from the outside of the chest. A Compass Rose Veneer Inlay is featured on the top of the chest, it was designed using CAD, engraved, and cut on a laser cutter, it was then glued on and compliments the rosewood. The drawer handles are steam bent, consisting of three strips, the outer layers are Rosewood, with the middle being Victorian Ash. The chest has two brass handles and a brass piano hinge to match. This project has extensive storage and was constructed using a variety of tools, machinery, processes, and skillful techniques.
