The design is inspired by the simplicity of mid century furniture. Built to allow use from baby through toddler to small child using hinged folding legs attached to the slatted bed base. The cot is made for a first grandchild using predominately recycled timber. The cedar end panels are from an old family four poster bed, while the Tasmanian oak front and rear panels are from one hundred year old rafters from a house the father was raised in. The drawers are dovetailed with undermount soft close drawer slides and ebony and brass handles. The timber carries with it the imprint of several generations of the family. The cot is 1420mm long by 820mm wide by 1080mm high and is finished with four coats of hard wax oil.
