"The Pieced Together Box" is comprised of figured maple and black walnut. It originated from finding several two-inch-by two-inch strip cut off's of figured maple at a local garage sale. To add accent colors to the piece, I used miter splines for the joints of the drawers. Both types of wood were also used for the drawer rails, adding to the overall theme of incorporating color. Structurally, the piece was not designed to have a lid that opened, rather, I chose to attach the lid to the case via a strip of black walnut. This can be seen on the top and the inside of the case. The drawer handles which were crafted in a similar fashion, connect the drawer front to the drawers. The piece was finished with blonde shellac, and wax was added to the drawer sides and rails
