Jaxon Martinez, The Kings Throne (Student)

For year 12 industrial Technology Timber I have created a rocking chair that is designed for the comfort and style to appeal to all. I got great inspiration from iconic rocking chairs made by David Haig and Sam Maloof. My design features an emphasis on the overall form of the sides of the chair, whereby the rocker, armrest and front leg create a soften triangle shape. The components were all hand cut on the bandsaw and shop made jigs were created to laminate the four specific pieces that make up these shapes. The back rest is ergonomically sound and supports the users lumber as they sit. The upholstery on the back rest sits neatly into a rebate which enhances the overall look. My project was photographed by Alvin Theseira and was supervised by my teacher Ben Percy. School: NBSC Freshwater Senior Campus
