In my creative journey, I’ve grappled with the balance between design vision and practical execution. Typically, I have a clear sense of where I’m headed, but often lack a well-defined path to get there. The TFT table, however, was an exception. I embarked on its creation without a fixed aesthetic in mind. I sensed there had to be an intriguing way to join the edges of the tabletop to an angled leg, allowing for seamless integration with the horizontal surface. The precise form, though, remained elusive. Hours of 3D modelling, lofting profiles along curves, and surface manipulation followed—an arduous process of coaxing the computer into producing something beautiful. The result is a leg that appears to split and gracefully trace a curve to the table’s edge. Production posed its own challenges, complicated by the need to disassemble the table for installation up a tricky staircase. The CNC machine underwent modifications to accommodate the legs, and hand carving filled in where the CNC couldn’t reach. And the name? The “T’s” stand for “That - Table.” The“F” remains open to interpretation.
