The Tessen Rocking chair was inspired by mid century Scandinavian furniture designer Bruno Mathsson chairs and shapes from Art Nouveau. The chair is made from American rock maple and all the joinery is complex mortise and tenon. The upholstery is a cotton webbing to keep the gentle sleek curves of the frame the main feature. One of the interesting details is that the chair dismantles into 3 pieces for easy packing and freight. the frames are held together by custom made brass bolts that connect the side frames to the seat frame. the seat frame also folds in half for easy transfers. This feature was brought about because I needed to find an easy cheap way to deliver the chair to a friend in Sweden. By the design I was able to pack the chair , check it in as luggage on a flight and deliver it personally to Uppsala Sweden.
