Rhys Hurcombe, Tasmanian Blackwood coffee table with dovetailed drawer (TABLES, CHAIRS, DESKS 2021 )

This piece was built for a close family member to house some sentimental family items. The mitred top includes my attempt at the 'Kane-tsugi' japanese joint featuring an interlocking mitre with a huon pine peg to lock the two joints together. The table houses a large half blind dovetail drawer with celery top drawer sides. The drawer is friction fit. All of the blackwood components were cut from two large billets to allow for consistent grain selection throughout.
