I was commissioned to design and build a conference/meeting table to look like a surfboard. The clients wanted to use the table in two seperate rooms or as assembled unit for meetings. The curved ends replicate the outline of a surfboard. The leg design is an assembly of fins, giving the table that twinny surfboard look. I chose two timber species that are native to the NSW mid north coast, Blackbutt and Blue Gum. The red timber stripes running through the table remind of surfboard stringers. Continuing the stripes down through the fin legs add retro vibes to the design.
