Skrin has been an experiment. I've only used offcuts from the furnitureshop I work in. That restriction in materials forces you to work differently, but it also lets you experiment without the fear of ruining expensive materials. My experiments have led to this box made from leftover Danish oak. Fumed on the inside and burnt on the outside. The outside mosaic endgrain pieces have been individually brunt, brushed and glued on. There is no pattern in the surface. With a light touch on the spring loaded latch you can open the box all the way and then close the lid with a satisfying click.
