Jessica Humpston, Shift table (STUDENT 2022)

Shift table was designed to sit quietly in an entryway and combines minimal form with traditional joinery techniques. Subtle shifts in grain direction of the maple timber create visual interest across the planar elements. Through-tenons punctuate the quarter sawn top creating a rhythmic motif and indication of the structure below. Encouraging interaction, Shift table contains dovetailed drawers and a storage compartment accessible through a pivot section slightly recessed into the table top. @jesshumpston
