- an ambience lamp made of maple and yew - Five rounded leaves are shaped around a central light fixture. The structure is inherently unstable, lacking volume and stability. However, by overturning and inserting three solid wood rings, the body gradually becomes rigid and transforms into a luminaire. When not assembled, it resembles a wheat sheaf and can be easily disassembled and stored compactly. The central light fixture as well as the leaves are all made of complex form glues. The leaves are also tapered in thickness towards both ends, which gives the object its delicate elegance. The first external wooden ring frame, made of maple and featuring classic filigree slot & tenon joints, secures the leaves in small groove pockets against the organically shaped light body. Then, a wider internal ring is inserted into the leaf grooves. Finally, with an audible clack, the upper ring snaps into the fillet grooves, providing the necessary stability to the entire structure. A construct of plates and frames, form-fittingly connected ... only by tension. MATERIAL & TECHNIQUES Solid yew & maple wood / handwork, form gluing L × W × H in cm & WEIGHT 20 (7.9″) × 21 (8.3″) × 38 (15″) - 1.2 kg DATE OF CREATION July 2022
