A large part of the Seek HQ project for me was this series of 12-seat and 8-seat bespoke dining tables designed for the staff breakout spaces on each floor. This series of six tables were made in two sizes; nominally 3m x 2m and 2m x 2m Each table is unique with a table finish colour that suits the respective floor on which it is situated. And with a different tile pattern and tile colour scheme specified by Hassell Studio. The project timeline and my overall scope presented a number of challenges. We couldn't tile on site - so we designed a solution and devised a production program to prefab the tile panels while simultaneously making the frames with a knockdown capability for assembly on site. In short, we prepared the tile panel substrates in our workshop and engaged a professional tiler to execute the required patterns to a precise tolerance. No cut tiles. To fit these prefabricated tile panels, I designed a lattice-like under frame made up of a series of bridle joints, which are supported by large diameter round legs, also turned in American Oak. The lattice under frame is surrounded neatly by a mitred edge profile designed with a set down in which to lay the tiled panels while also containing them, so that they sit flush with the top edge of the table. Timber: American Red Oak Tiles: Classic Ceramics Vogue (Various colours) Timber Finish: Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C
