Connor Keefe , Scar's Sanctuary (STUDENT 2021)
This coffee table was designed to double as a home for a very lucky python, Scar. Made entirely of Victorian Ash, it has been stained in walnut and finished with Danish oil. The corners of the carcase have been mitred to create a sense of flow around the table and the bottom and back were recessed to provide support for the heavy reptile. Glass is used to provide a 180° view of Scar, whilst still allowing for vents and a heat source to be added to the solid timber back at a later date. The doors operate on plastic runners and have a lock to protect both the snake and his roommates.
