Jake Scerri, Rustic Coffee Table (Student Awards 2019)
The Rustic Coffee Table was constructed and designed to be implemented into a modern-day living room. The coffee table features a contrast to other furniture in the living room being constructed of Tasmanian oak and Tasmanian blackwood. It consists of many traditional woodworking techniques including a cross halving joint used in the X-legs as well as a stopped housing joint used for the inlay. Other components such as the shelf and tabletop were constructed using a domino widening joint. The Rustic Coffee Table will be used to hold books, magazines and fit perfectly in the living room.
