Rust was developed as part of the furnishings for an award winning architectural contemporary home in Newcastle. The client brief was for an exciting and original sideboard for the lounge area. 2.4 meters long, Rust is fabricated from a combination of solid and hand -cut veneers of American White Oak. The 35mm thick carcass is ebonised and oiled in dead matte, in contract the interior of the piece is lacquered and polished to a high gloss. The sliding doors for Rust are solid copper plate. The acid wash patina to the surface is a complex and exacting procedure, requiring days of experimenting before committing to the final treatment.
