I designed and created an extendable dining room table made from Victoria Ash. The design and function of the table were inspired by a piece of furniture that was much loved by my grandparents but was unfortunately destroyed in the recent floods. I have incorporated pieces of their hardware into my design to continue the legacy of their table. The table utilises a contrasting herringbone design that accentuates the highlights of the light hitting the timber to create a contrasting and unique design, depending on the angle of viewing. The table is constructed using a variety of traditional and modern joinery techniques to create a unique and long lasting piece of furniture that will last for generations to come.
