Made using recycled timbers only; rimu salvaged from the renovation of the O’Connells mall in Queenstown. The nail marks are celebrated as scars of a different past, to shine bright in its new future. The underside is waved and charred, using the shou sugi ban technique to contrast with the smooth and clear top. This piece represents us as a company as it celebrates the new beginnings, the journey of transformation, and the subtle, yet harmonious impact found in the contrasting forms. Repurposed materials, and ready to serve its new owner. It has been displayed in art exhibitions around Otago and featured in local news, and now we are proud to say its been re-instated in the brand new O'Connells Mall over 50 years after that rimu was first used in this very building.
