Max Fisher, Retro inspired coffee table (STUDENT 2023)

Using damaged skateboard decks and scrap walnut from a closing timber factory, I made a coffee table with sliding tambour doors for my HSC major work. The push-to-open false front drawers maintain the seamless look of skateboards with the tambour continuing seamlessly around the whole of the coffee table. Opening the drawers reveals the dovetail joints and the base is lined with black felt. I wanted to highlight the use of waste products in my major work and to demonstrate that a beautiful piece of furniture could be made from waste materials.
