Bim Morton, Retro inner realm drawers (CHESTS, CABINETS, SHELVING 2021)

A beautiful set of commissioned drawers for Mountain Ridge winery, made in solid Black Butt. The clients saw a Blackwood chest of drawers in my gallery (Tree-O furniture gallery) with carved draw handles, but a very different leg and rail carcase construction. Many designs and pictures were emailed from the Mid North Coast to Gerringong before the final design was agreed upon. A square mid-century modern influenced design with flowing carved handles was the final outcome of this creative collaboration. Then time for the craftsman to play with the stunning north coast Black Butt. A square clean-lined cabinet with dovetailed drawers, carved handles, held off the floor with curved legs is enhanced only by the glowing oil-finished timber.
