VINCE RUSH, Remembering Neil (ART, OBJECTS 2021)

A friend and mentor, Neil, died from cancer a few years ago and I wanted to dedicate a piece to him. The funereal amphora shape is decorated with vines and leaves in a style that Neil and I worked out together, My entry is a turned, thin walled hollow form that is 285 mm wide, height without the finial top 220mm, and height with finial top 300mm, Horizontal beads have been cut around the vessel. Then I turned 2 thin walled bowls and carved vines only from one bowl for the top section and vines, leaves and handles from the second for the bottom section. The base was turned and carved and added to the main body. The fine top finial is turned and carved. All made from jacaranda
