RAIDEN is a flat-pack record stand for my good mate, Raiden. With detachable legs and carbon fibre rods bolted to the frame, Raiden is designed for easy assembly/disassembly convenient for Raiden’s nomadic lifestyle. RAIDEN features sliding ends (aluminum sheets staken from a scrapyard) that can easily be manoeuvered along the carbon fibre rods by virtue of linear bearings. The ends can be locked into position with shaft collars fastened by a gentle twist. The knob to fasten the shaft collar is made from melted HDPE plastic that has been lathed, and was collected from householed waste. The frame is made from Spotted Gum that has failed QC, rescued from Tait Enterprises. This current design can hold 200+ records, however, its holding capacity can expand by increasing the linear bearing size, rod diameter and rod length, making it customisable without the need to replace the frame. Raiden accommodates for a growing record collection and is designed for disassembly, making it easy to replace parts. RAIDEN is inspired by the timeless design of Mid Century furniture.
