Geoffrey Marshall, Plywood Twin Fin Surfboard (ART, OBJECTS 2021)
A passion project devised to utilise leftover and scrap plywood from a home renovation. The 6ft 6in twin fin surfboard was custom designed using a hollow core process. Over 150 CNC machined plywood pieces were laminated into a surfboard form. It was then hand shaped and sanded to final form. This was followed by a fibreglass layer, then an epoxy top coat. Key features include the fins integrated into the stringers which are made with bracing ply (also from the renovation). The finished board is suited to small to medium (1-3m) waves. The board has been surfed on the North and East coasts of Tasmania with a West coast trip planned for later this year.
