Hiroshi Yamaguchi, Paperclip (Furniture)
Conference table "tableclip". The name refers to its shape of table top. This 18~19 seater boardroom table can also be used as a small group meeting with its unique shape. This shape allows access to the center of the table and makes the maintenance easy. Soft wirings are hidden in the box under the soft closing lid. The curved edge and the gap between the tops and boxes allows the electric coding to go through with the lid closed, making a tidy impression when it's used. This project is a part of the commision to salvage cut down trees in the university campus to build a new department building. 5 out of 7 species of salvaged timber are used for this table, claret ash (top), London plane and Himalayan cedar (wiring box), stringybark and brittle gum ( Base). Making best use of limited sources of timber was the challenge.
