Michael Gilling, Oval Dining Table (TABLES, CHAIRS, DESKS 2022)

An oval dining table made from recycled Kauri shelves and Matai. The top features a deep taper starting at the base and extending to the outer edge. This taper was formed using a series of radiating boards, each board is set on a specific angled wedge and scarf jointed to the top to form the taper. The outer edge is finished with four curved pieces framing the top nicely. With strength in mind the whole top was coated with a layer of fibreglass and resin and then finished with osmo-polyx.
