Sometimes shapes and colours must wait until the other pieces fall into place. So to with this piece titled “Out Of This World”. The tulip wood for the mitre jointed box was sourced some time ago, and the jarrah had been sitting on the rack for years awaiting its moment. They work together to give us this amazing set of colours and shapes. The jarrah “Wings“ give an angelic or space themed contrast in design, and make the box sit well on a table. Opening the fitted lid is a gentle straight pull upwards with a tiny gasp of air. The box of tulip wood has broader expanses that allow the gentle swirls of the grain to appear through the hand sanded Tung Oil finish. The strong red and brown swirls of the jarrah although a complete contrast yet compliment the gentle softness of the tulip wood. Size: 200mm wide x 170mm deep x 180mm tall
