I made this box as a gift for my niece. It features two compartments that separate along the undulating line joining the upper section from the lower. The latter was made from solid New Guinea Rosewood and the top, an ebony veneer with a painted interior. I wanted to emphasize the notion that the walls of a box can protect the space inside and the exterior not betray it's contents by incorporating contrasting materials and finishes. I painted a design on the inside with layers of acrylic paint and covered all interior surfaces in resin before assembling the box.
