I made this Backgammon board as a 30th Birthday gift for my partner. I was conscious to try to only use Australian timbers in the construction to highlight the beauty and variety of the amazing species we have on offer here. The timbers used are Solid Blackwood for the box sides and counter trays; Figured Blackbutt veneer on the outside panels; Figured Spotted gum, Figured Redgum and Figured Silver Ash on the inside panels; Solid Blackwood and Huon Pine counters. I hand cut all the veneer and pressed it in a homemade veneer press.
