Memory is important to me, when someone leaves us, it's all we have. Working these woods I was delighted to find memories of my Grandfather, Jim Menken, resurfacing to visit me. I think he would've loved these woods. I know I do. This piece was inspired by the work of James Krenov. The case is pear and the stand is doussie, which were two woods he often referenced in his books.
