Is it a plane? Is it a bird? No, it His Airness, Michael Jordan. Ok maybe it isn't the six time NBA championship winner and arguably the Greatest Of All Time, but it is a carved piece of wood to pay homage to him. Well, eight pieces of wood to be precise. I find I can create a more dynamic and energised form by joining parts as opposed to carving from one big block. The choice of wood is jelutong, the basketball is a ping pong ball, the court is American Oak tongue and groove flooring, an acrylic rod to elevate him and a lazy Susan mechanism to swivel on. This was gifted to my childhood friend who idolised MJ growing up.
