The Ligérienne is a sleek, modular wall unit crafted from solid prime European oak, featuring sophisticated fumed oak accents. It is designed to elegantly showcase and store a record collection along with a turntable. I have always cherished listening to my vinyl records but struggled to find a piece of furniture that combines functionality and distinctive design, specifically tailored to accommodate a turntable, an amplifier, and suitable storage for records. The top surface of the cabinet is large enough to host a turntable, with adjustable shelves that allow space to open the lid when needed. The left side of the cabinet can house an amplifier, and features a bi-fold door that minimises the footprint when the door remains open for access to controls. The right side offers dedicated storage for records, which can be organised using elegant fumed oak dowels. Additionally, the inside of the right-hand door includes a slot for conveniently storing the sleeve of the record currently in use. The adjustable shelving system is ingeniously anchored to the legs, with fumed oak brackets securely holding the shelves in place. These shelves are perfect for displaying decorative objects, photo frames, or small bookcase speakers. My overarching goal in designing this piece was to maximise the functionality of every component without compromising aesthetics. The result is a versatile and stylish piece of furniture that enhances the experience of listening to vinyl records. My Instagram is @wedgedesigns
