This is Myrtle burl exterior and plain Myrtle interior box with a red pearl resin river running through the centre and water falling down the front. The box measures 295mm wide x 210mm deep x 110mm high. It has a secret locking system in the lid. There is a small steel pin in the left hand side and the lid has a notch and a groove routered into the edge . When the lid closes the notch goes over the pin and the side is slot screwed to the main box so it can slide back over the pin and thus locking the lid. The screws can be tensioned to the desired resistance thus making it less obvious how to unlock it. It has a single sliding tray and a sectioned double tray below. It also has a secret compartment below the sectioned compartment that is only accessible by knowing where the locking piece can be disengaged. The division in the sectioned tray is in two pieces. The top half is fixed but the bottom half slides 4mm into the notch in the back of the box and thus locking it in place . The finish is a sprayed clear polyurethane . The inspiration for the design of this box actually came from wanting to use a offcut from another box that had the resin in it and has evolved from there.
