Harry Parker, Laptop Computer Desk (Student Awards 2019)
For my Major Work, I have constructed a Laptop Computer Desk (compact drop- front desk) with decorative hand cut veneer inlays. The work space I have created is minimalistic, the materials used were New Guinea rosewood and jarrah with white mahogany and Australian red cedar veneers. The drawers and letter cubby offers space and storage to hold loose leaf papers and stationery… Joinery consists of 26 machine/ hand cut to fit mortises and tenon’s for the frame, four dominos, multiple biscuit joins and through housing joints. The two drawers consist of finger joints. To keep the project practical and easy for transporting the project is constructed in two units. Year 12, Knox Grammar School, NSW. Teacher: John Parker
