Liam Starcevich, Khells Chair (TABLES, CHAIRS & DESKS 2023)

The Khells chair stemmed from a very simple sketch consisting of a single line which established the piece's silhouette. The intention was to create an armchair that was at once light and comfortable whilst retaining the distinctiveness and integrity of the original representation. It features a steam bent backrest and a modified sharknose profile to the arms and legs. The eye is instinctively drawn up the line of the rear leg to the tendril-like intersection of arm, leg and backrest. The procession culminates in the elbow of the armrest which serves as the chair's centrepiece.
