My furniture piece showcases the expertise developed during Stage 6 Industrial Technology, drawing inspiration from the lasting techniques of Japanese woodworking. By utilising traditional joinery methods such as sliding dovetails and mitres for the main structure, along with half-blind dovetails for drawers and cross lap joints for the legs, it achieves a balance of durability and aesthetic appeal. The design prioritises minimalist functionality, featuring a push-to-open mechanism that allows doors and drawers to operate smoothly without visible hardware. Made from high-quality materials and adorned with refined brass inlays, this design highlights an exceptional attention to detail while aligning form with function.
