Anthony Nguyen, Japanese Cabinet (Student Awards 2019)

This Japanese inspired cabinet is made primarily of Tasmanian blackwood, solid and veneer particleboard and some rock maple veneer particleboard which is used for the panel of the door. These two species of timber give a unique contrast of dark and light colour. The overall dimension is 1300 x 570 x 1030mm with the dimension of the actual cabinet being 976 x 374 x 600mm. The construction of the cabinet utilised a range of woodworking joineries such as domino, housing, rebate and dovetail. The cabinet has a sliding door mechanism, with a parquetry design on the door.
